Cars 2 (2011)

Image result for cars 2 poster

As much as I wanted to like this one, since I liked Cars (2006) so much, this one was just a messy, muddled story. Sometimes, the international spin just doesn’t work!

I still haven’t seen Cars 3 (2017), but I’ve heard it was better than this one. I like the characters and the concept overall. In reality, they could have kept it as a standalone movie.

  • Another powerful book. It was put into my life at the perfect time. Buying my own copy was perfectly timed and orchestrated, too. The coolest part was when the author, Elin Stebbins Waldal, found my Book Review in July 2015, read it, and took the time to comment on my post!

Day 18 – Your favorite Pixar film

Toy Story (1995)

Image result for toy story 1995

I fell in love with Toy Story when it was first announced. I loved the trailer. I don’t remember going to see it in theaters, although I was 8 years old when it was released in November 1995.

However, we had it on VHS. I watched it so many times, I lost count. My parents still have the VHS copy today. I’m surprised I didn’t wear it out!

There are so many different characters in this movie. I liked Woody, thought Mr. Potato Head and Ham were funny, and Rex was silly. Buzz Lightyear appeared to be the enemy invader at first, but he turns out to be a decent toy. There are several lessons to be learned in this movie, too – Friendship, caring, kindness, respect, and more.

No Ideas but in Things

A book cover that perfectly expresses the novel inside it.

catching_fire

Catching Fire, Suzanne Collins.

The colors symbolize fire, and the mockingjay is a significant symbol on its own.

Dark and Lovely

A book cover that is so creepalicious you just want to eat it up.

Fallible Justice, Laura Laakso.

I was so thrilled to receive this book as an ARC. I was definitely skeptical at first, but this cover drew me in almost immediately.

Sugar Sweet

A cute cover that is so fluffy you want to give it a hug.

Love and Loyalty

Love and Loyalty: A Felicity Classic 1, Valerie Tripp

How could you not love a girl and her horse?

The Simplistic Aesthetic

A book cover that stuns with the most minimalistic of design.

Columbine, Dave Cullen.

I really to need to re-read this and review it for the blog. I had the opportunity to listen to Dave Cullen lecture at my university, and then I interviewed him about the lecture and the book for the student newspaper. It was such a powerful experience. He also signed my copy.

Cover Envy

A book cover you wish you had on your shelves, but don’t yet.

Image result for on the come up

On The Come Up, Angie Thomas.

I just bought The Hate U Give during my most recent trip to Barnes & Noble, so this is a lesson in patience.

Travelling Abroad

A beautiful book cover featuring a country outside of your own.

Anna and the French Kiss, Stephanie Perkins.

I love the Eiffel Tower! Plus, I’ve heard so many good things about this book. I think it’s time I add it to my upcoming TBR.

The Color Wheel

A cover that showcases one of your favorite colors.

Image result for emerald green book covers

Emerald Green, Kerstin Gier.

This is gorgeous! I think I need to further investigate this book, and the other two in its trilogy …

Switching Gears

A cover change that you absolutely adore.

To Kill A Mockingbird, Harper Lee.

I love the cover change for the 50th Anniversary of the book’s publication.

Oldie but Good

A favorite book cover of your favorite classic.

The Great Gatsby - Complex

The Great Gatsby, F. Scott Fitzgerald.

This was the cover that drew me in, that started it all. I was assigned to read Gatsby in 12th grade, and I fell head over heels. I was drawn into Fitzgerald’s own world as well, and wrote a research paper that year on his other books and his experiences as an American expatriate.

And the winner is…

Which cover mentioned above is your favorite?

This one. It’s just gorgeous. I’m definitely looking closer at this book, and the Ruby Red Trilogy.

Fantasia (1940)

It’s so hard to pick a favorite!

I love this movie. The classical music alone, mostly performed by the Philadelphia Orchestra, is top-notch. My favorite segments are The Sorceror’s Apprentice and Night on Bald Mountain. I clearly remember both of them frightening me at first, but as I gained a greater appreciation for both classical music and animation, I fell in love.

I was in orchestra for eight years, from fifth grade through high school. We learned to play several pieces featured in the movie. To this day, I think my favorite is Night on Bald Mountain.

Ellie and Carl Fredericksen, Up (2009)

Image result for carl and ellie wedding

I’m already tearing up. The first 10 minutes of Up evoke so many emotions!

It’s clear Ellie and Carl were meant for each other. I smile when I think of their wedding day and this kiss, because it’s a sweet, wonderful moment of happiness and pure joy.

I won’t spoil it for those who may not have seen it, but you’ve been warned. Have tissues ready.

“Let It Go” from Frozen (2013)

It was symbolic in the movie. I downloaded it on my phone. Now, I can’t stand to listen to it. Idina Menzel is a good singer, don’t get me wrong. But give me a song from Wicked any day. Not this.

“The Mob Song” from Beauty and The Beast (1991)

This song. It struck absolute fear in me. Every scene associated with this song is hate-filled, angered, and frightening. But, at the same time, it’s one of the most memorable ones I know.
