Day 25 – Your favorite scene from your favorite movie

“Falling With Style” scene from Toy Story (1995)

Image result for toy story 1 falling with style

This is the result of one of the most tense moments / scenes in Toy Story. It looks like Woody and Buzz will be lost forever, as the moving van with the rest of the toys gets further and further away. But, Buzz remembers the rocket on his back. Will the rocket explode, and them along with it?

Buzz becomes the hero, in Woody’s eyes. They fly and soar across the sky, hoping to at least catch up to the moving van, let alone Andy’s car.

It’s such a nail-biter of a scene, but also a triumph. Toys can fly! Or, rather, “fall with style.”

Day 24 – A movie that makes you cry

Big Hero 6 (2014)

This was a good movie, but it had so many emotions packed into it. I won’t spoil it here, but let’s just say I cried more than once while watching it in the theater. It’s one of those movies where I need to be in a certain mood to watch. It’s one of the most unique Disney movies. It’s also more emotional than I think people expected. The original impression, for many, is this is a futuristic movie with robots and technology, but there’s also a significant human element.

The Emperor’s New Groove (2000)

This is one of the funniest movies Disney has produced, in my opinion. If you haven’t seen it, I highly recommend it. It’s one of my go-to movies if I’m in a rough patch or I need to laugh for a bit.

The stellar cast includes David Spade, John Goodman, Eartha Kitt (May she Rest in Peace), Patrick Warburton, and Wendie Malick. It’s a great story about a selfish emperor who learns lessons along the way about friendship, compassion, and helping others.

Kronk, voiced by Patrick Warburton, is one of the best characters Disney has created!

Day 22 – An underrated movie

Atlantis: The Lost Empire (2001)

I saw this in the theater when we hosted the Russian children. I thought it was a decent movie at the time – Different, but nothing special. I only started to gain a greater appreciation for it years later.

Day 21 – An overrated movie

Ugh. I really struggle with labeling overrated and underrated movies!

Frozen (2013)

This is the only Disney movie I can think of where I truly believe it is overrated. It’s a decent movie, but not incredibly remarkable.

Day 20 – Favorite sequel

Toy Story 3 (2010)

Image result for toy story 3

I liked Toy Story 2 (1999), don’t get me wrong. But Toy Story 3 absolutely blew it out of the water. It came out at the perfect time – 15 years after the original movie was released. And, at the time, we all thought it was the end of the story.

I believe Toy Story 3 will remain my favorite, but I’m looking forward to seeing Toy Story 4 when it’s released this summer. From what I’ve heard, if you go see it, bring the tissues.

As much as I wanted to like this one, since I liked Cars (2006) so much, this one was just a messy, muddled story. Sometimes, the international spin just doesn’t work!

I still haven’t seen Cars 3 (2017), but I’ve heard it was better than this one. I like the characters and the concept overall. In reality, they could have kept it as a standalone movie.

  • Another powerful book. It was put into my life at the perfect time. Buying my own copy was perfectly timed and orchestrated, too. The coolest part was when the author, Elin Stebbins Waldal, found my Book Review in July 2015, read it, and took the time to comment on my post!

Day 18 – Your favorite Pixar film

Toy Story (1995)

Image result for toy story 1995

I fell in love with Toy Story when it was first announced. I loved the trailer. I don’t remember going to see it in theaters, although I was 8 years old when it was released in November 1995.

However, we had it on VHS. I watched it so many times, I lost count. My parents still have the VHS copy today. I’m surprised I didn’t wear it out!

There are so many different characters in this movie. I liked Woody, thought Mr. Potato Head and Ham were funny, and Rex was silly. Buzz Lightyear appeared to be the enemy invader at first, but he turns out to be a decent toy. There are several lessons to be learned in this movie, too – Friendship, caring, kindness, respect, and more.
