Day 22 – An underrated movie

Atlantis: The Lost Empire (2001)

I saw this in the theater when we hosted the Russian children. I thought it was a decent movie at the time – Different, but nothing special. I only started to gain a greater appreciation for it years later.

Day 21 – An overrated movie

Ugh. I really struggle with labeling overrated and underrated movies!

Frozen (2013)

This is the only Disney movie I can think of where I truly believe it is overrated. It’s a decent movie, but not incredibly remarkable.

Day 20 – Favorite sequel

Toy Story 3 (2010)

Image result for toy story 3

I liked Toy Story 2 (1999), don’t get me wrong. But Toy Story 3 absolutely blew it out of the water. It came out at the perfect time – 15 years after the original movie was released. And, at the time, we all thought it was the end of the story.

I believe Toy Story 3 will remain my favorite, but I’m looking forward to seeing Toy Story 4 when it’s released this summer. From what I’ve heard, if you go see it, bring the tissues.

Two Truths and a Lie

I first saw this tag on Destiny’s blog, Howling Libraries!

Here’s the link to Destiny’s post:

And then I was tagged for it by Sara at The Bibliophagist. Thanks, Sara!

Here’s the post where I was tagged:

How To Participate

  • Create a post with your two bookish truths and one bookish lie – but be sure to keep it a secret so your readers can guess!
  • Reveal the lie in a spoiler at the bottom of your post (you can use this HTML code! Just change the “S” in Summary to a lowercase)
Reveal the Lie

Lie Revealed

Two Truths & A Lie

  1. When I was in elementary school, I almost had to pay $25.00 to replace a lost book from the local library.
  2. I’ve never highlighted or underlined a book, except for The Bible or textbooks.
  3. I’ve visited libraries in Florida, New York, North Carolina, Virginia, England, France, Spain, and Russia.

Are You Ready for the Answer?

Reveal the Lie

#3 is the lie! I’ve visited libraries in most of those places, but not all. I have been to Russia, Moscow specifically, but I didn’t visit a library there.

Cars 2 (2011)

As much as I wanted to like this one, since I liked Cars (2006) so much, this one was just a messy, muddled story. Sometimes, the international spin just doesn’t work!

I still haven’t seen Cars 3 (2017), but I’ve heard it was better than this one. I like the characters and the concept overall. In reality, they could have kept it as a standalone movie.

Tornado Warning: A Memoir of Teen Dating Violence and Its Effect on a Woman’s Life

  • Another powerful book. It was put into my life at the perfect time. Buying my own copy was perfectly timed and orchestrated, too. The coolest part was when the author, Elin Stebbins Waldal, found my Book Review in July 2015, read it, and took the time to comment on my post!

Books I’d Love to Read Starting with the Letter “T”:

3950967

The Tales of Beedle the Bard

  • I want to round out my collection of Harry Potter texts with this one.

Day 18 – Your favorite Pixar film

Toy Story (1995)

Image result for toy story 1995

I fell in love with Toy Story when it was first announced. I loved the trailer. I don’t remember going to see it in theaters, although I was 8 years old when it was released in November 1995.

However, we had it on VHS. I watched it so many times, I lost count. My parents still have the VHS copy today. I’m surprised I didn’t wear it out!

There are so many different characters in this movie. I liked Woody, thought Mr. Potato Head and Ham were funny, and Rex was silly. Buzz Lightyear appeared to be the enemy invader at first, but he turns out to be a decent toy. There are several lessons to be learned in this movie, too – Friendship, caring, kindness, respect, and more.
