Favorite TV Animal
This one, no pun intended, was quite a challenge!
I love animals, in general.
When first thinking about this one, I thought of Lassie, Kermit The Frog, Flipper, Miss Piggy, Rocky and Bullwinkle, Snoopy, Woodstock, and a few others. There are so many!
Then, I remembered one of my favorite shows from my childhood!

Wishbone was one of those shows that I watched every day after school. When I started reading the classics, I knew a lot of the stories already, mainly because of Wishbone!
For example, when I first read Tom Sawyer, The Man in the Iron Mask, and Ivanhoe, I found myself imagining Wishbone in costume! I found myself wanting to read all of the books that were featured on the show. Who knew that a little dog would inspire me to read so many different books?

Did you watch Wishbone? Did you read the books?
The entire series is available on YouTube!
And like Wishbone says, visit your local library!
Until the next headline, Laura Beth 🙂
I loved Wishbone! I didn’t read the books though.
Gotcha. I really enjoyed both. I got a few story ideas of my own from the series!
Thanks for reading, and commenting!
No problem!
You are the best!
Thanks! 🙂
You’re welcome!
🙂
I loved Wishbone as a kid. Haven’t heard anyone mentioning him in forever!
Good point! Thanks for reading, and commenting! I watched the whole series on PBS. I love that all of it is on YouTube!
I remembered when I watched first episode of Wishbone in 1995. It was an amazing TV show. I will read books of this show,
~Dr. Diana
Oh yes, me too. I was seven years old when it premiered. My parents didn’t have cable then (and they still don’t), so I grew up watching PBS. The books are good adaptations of the show – Excellent chapter books for younger readers. The entire TV series is available on YouTube, as well.
Thank you, Dr. Diana, for reading my post, and commenting!
I will forever have the theme song of Wishbone stuck in my head until the day I die. It was such a good show. In middle school, I’d go to my local library and rent the VHS Tapes (way before DVDs became mainstream) and watch them. I was probably a little too old to be watching it, but it was such a good show and so cute! Now that I think about it, this show has to do with history and literature, and maybe that could have started my love for all things history! (I just graduated from university with a history degree, lol!). Anyway, gotta love this show (: thanks for posting!
Definitely! I hear you. I’ve re-watched a ton of the PBS shows from the 90s on YouTube, shamelessly! There’s all of Wishbone, Arthur, both Carmen Sandiego shows (Where in the World and Where in Time), and Ghostwriter (My personal favorite). It’s been really interesting re-watching all of these as an adult. I love history and literature, too. Thanks for reading, and commenting!
Omg, I’m glad I’m not the only one. It’s such a nostalgic feeling, yet the shows are just too good! If you get regular cable, there is a channel called the Hub or Hub and they play all those old shows, like Carmen Sandiego for example (I’ve watched, and maybe even DVR’d, not gonna lie, lol). I’ll occasionally watch The Magic School Bus too, haha!
Me too! We’re like soul sisters, haha! I’ve heard of The Hub – Not sure if we get it here in Virginia. Oh, yeah, The Magic School Bus, too!
Right?!
Virginia, huh? That’s so cool! I’m in California; about 20 minutes away from San Francisco.
Yes. I was born in New York City, but I’ve lived in Virginia since the age of 2. We were in Alexandria for two years, and then we moved to Chesapeake when I was 4. I’ve been in Hampton Roads ever since.
California = Awesome! I’ve never been to San Francisco, but it’s on my list! I’ve been to San Diego and Los Angeles so far.
Wow so you’ve moved quite a bit! I’d love to visit VA. I’ve been there on school trips, which are pretty controlled and on a set schedule, so I didn’t get to see much. I’m actually planning a road trip for late next year and am planning to stop in VA!
If you need tips for places to go to in SF, I’m your girl. There is so much to see! (:
Where have you visited? I saw your plans for the road trip on your blog – I think that’s awesome!
If you need a place to stay, hit me up!
I have a wonderful friend who blogs full-time. She and her husband are moving to the Bay Area in September!
I went to Jamestown, the College of William and Mary, places like that. It was for a school trip.
I’ll definitely hit you up for recommendations! I’m currently working on my genealogy, and I actually connected with a 4th cousin who lives in VA as well!
Hopefully she likes the bay area! I must say, the weather is VERY bipolar, part of SF smell really bad, but there are some beautiful sights to see. It is also VERY expensive to live here unfortunately
Nice! Around here, Jamestown is one of the standard elementary school field trips. My best friend currently attends William & Mary, working on a master’s in physics! We have so history in our area, it’s ridiculous.
Genealogy is so interesting! How cool that you connected with a 4th cousin. Where does she live?
I hope so too! She’s been in Charlotte, North Carolina for the last two years, and her husband received an amazing job opportunity in Cali. I’ll let her know!
That would be so cool! I really want to move out of California. My emphasis with my history is colonial America, so it only makes sense that I love somewhere where all the action happened, right?! My cousin I found out lives in Fairfax, VA. I hope to meet him! He sent me a book he made about our family!
Omg I have fam in NC and in SC. I’ll be going there on my road trip too!
Your friend will definitely like it out here I’m sure. I’ve been here my whole life so I’m like, get me out! Haha.
That is so awesome! Yup, we have a lot of colonial American history here! Know that if you ever move out here, you have a friend!
Fairfax! Small word – I have a dear friend from college who lives up there with his parents. If you don’t mind, send me an email with his name. I’m really curious! (laurabeth.stricker@gmail.com).
Nice! I love the Carolinas. Give me the Outer Banks any day!
You are awesome!!
Emailing you now!
Yay! Thanks!!
